About Dr. Charulata Bapaye


Dr. Charulata underwent medical training in India where she graduated from B J Medical College, University of Pune. After graduating,She did her MD in the field of obstetrics & gynaecology at BJ Medical College and Sassoon Gen Hospitals, Pune.


She then decided to specialize in laparoscopic surgery and was trained by none other than the Guinness Book Record holder Dr. Rakesh Sinha at the Bombay Endoscopic Academy for Minimally invasive Surgery (BEAMS), a FOGSI recognized training institute. Here she received hands on training in a large variety of Endoscopic procedures such as total laparoscopic hysterectomy, Myomectomy, salpingectomy, ectopic pregnancy management, ovarian drilling, sling, adhesiolysis, hysteroscopic surgeries and fertility enhancing surgeries.

She furthered her studies in laparoscopic surgery by attending various training courses in Germany, Denmark and USA.

Over the years, Dr. Charulata has developed particular expertise in obstetric care, gynaecologic and laparoscopic surgeries. As the chief Mentor and Director of GEMS Hospital and Endoscopy Centre, Dr. Charulata aims to continue to offer dedicated obstetrics and gynaecology service to her patients, constantly upgrading the facilities offered, in a friendly and caring environment.
She is also an Honorary Consultant at Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital, Oyster & Pearl Hospital and Jahangir Hospital, all in Pune.

Dr. Charulata has been actively involved in research and has presented papers at medical conferences, both local and international. Her paper presented at AMOGS in Feb. '99 titled 'Hysteroscopic adhesiolysis - A milestone in Gynaecological Endoscopy' was well received. her video on "Potpourri of Complications" won the 1st prize at the IAGE, Hyderabad in 2009.

In 2008, she was an observer at Mountain view, California, USA, for Robotic Surgery with Dr.Camran Nezhat, who is a father of Robotic Surgery.

Dr. Charulata was a visiting professor at the dept of Physiotherapy, Fergusson College, Pune till 2015.
An eloquent speaker , Dr. Charulata has given numerous talks on sex education, female health and other topics at various prestigious platforms such as “Sakal Madhurangan” and has written a number of articles in ‘Tanishka’ and ‘Saptahik Sakal’ on health and fitness.

A landmark in her academic career was an invitation to Israel to talk on "Endometriosis - The Indian Scenario" in 2013 by Dr. Doron Kopelmann, Head of the department of Surgery, Afula University. Always a learner, in 2013, Dr. Charulata attended a conference in Italy to update her knowledge on cervical cancer.

She has been the organizing Secretary of three International conferences on "Pearls & Pitfalls in Gynaec. Endoscopy and ART".
Dr. Charulata Bapaye is married and has two sons.
